Independent exhibition curator Marion Hamard develops a curatorial approach that explores postcolonial and decolonial perspectives, heritage issues, as well as the world of printed art.

With a Master's degree in Exhibition Professions and Arts, a Bachelor's degree in History and a Bachelor's degree in Art History, her work is distinguished by a process of ideation and mediation co-constructed with the artists.

In 2016, she joined Le Centre, a contemporary art space in Abomey-Calavi, where she was in charge of the residency and exhibition program. Appointed director in 2018, she oversaw the programming until 2023. There, she developed a committed and experimental curatorial approach. Simultaneously, she enriched the historical and scientific aspects of the Musée de la Récade, while also implementing outreach and community education initiatives for young people and local communities.

In 2017 and 2018, she was commissioned by the French Institute of Benin to serve as artistic director for Nuit Blanche, and in 2025 to develop the immersive platform for the Inspiration Benin – At the Heart of African Worlds program. From 2022 to 2026, she taught Communication and Project Mediation and Research Methodology at Africa Design School.

Since 2023, she has been pursuing a doctorate at the University of Abomey-Calavi under the supervision of Professors Didier Houénoudé and Arthur Vido. Her research focuses on the relationships between contemporary artistic productions and the processes of heritage-making of the (sur)viving cultural heritage of the Kingdom of Danxomɛ̀ .
